64 - 70 Burbank Street

In 1995, after a four-year legal battle, we won control of two rundown buildings that had nearly been destroyed in a condo conversion scam. By late fall we had finished refurbishing 64-70 Burbank as 35 one and two-bedroom apartments, two of them handicapped accessible. Rents are affordable to low- and moderate-income residents and both buildings were fully occupied by yer's end. Reclaiming the structures from drug dealers and prostitutes has done much to restore a sense of safety to Burbank Street and surrounding blocks.
