In its early years, the FCDC fought arson, institutional expansion, and gentrification in the Fenway. During that period, we worked with tenants in six rowhouses on Hemenway Street to convince the buildings' owner, - the Massachusetts Historical Society - to abandon plans to replace the buildings with a parking lot.The FCDC helped the tenats to draw up an innovative leasing agreement that gave them a key role in managing the property and its 24 apartments. Today. we're working to keep this housing affordable as we help residents devise a plan for purchasing the buildings from the MHS.
