Democratic candidate for the Eighth Congressional District, Somerville Mayor Michael Capuano will be the guest speaker at The Fenway Action Coalition's (FAC) Community Briefing Meeting scheduled for Oct. 5th.

The event will be held at Morville House, 100 Norway Street, which is between located Hemenway Street and Edgerly Rd. The meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. and last until 9 p.m.

During his visit Mayor Capuano will address Fenway residents and take questions from the audience. In addition, the Fenway Action Coalition will update its Fenway neighbors on a number of developments that are of concern to all of us.

Among them: important progress FAC has made in re-writing trash, dumpster and street sanitation ordinances. We'll also have news on Boston City Council hearings that the FAC has lobbied for concerning the proposed Fenway Park Megaplex and the Millennium Project on Mass Avenue over the Turnpike. FAC members will also report on additional efforts to force area colleges and universities to house all their students on campus. Success on this front will have profound impacts on housing and other quality of life issues.

Also on the October 5th agenda will be planning for demonstrations, press events and other visibility actions in the Fenway and at City Hall. Actions like these are necessary to express community sentiment about MegaMalls and Megaplexes being built in our neighborhood without our consent or even consultation. Unambiguous gestures from Fenway citizens are vital to creating political pressure that will scuttle misbegotten projects like Millennium and the Fenway Megaplex.

Please contact the Fenway Action Coalition with any questions you may have. Donations will be requested to cover costs associated with this event and other FAC activities.

See ya all soon!
